Equipment Operator (VA)

Job Description

We are seeking a hard-working and mechanically minded people to join our production team.  Equipment operators set-up and run our metal forming equipment.  These machines use high precision custom tooling for heat exchanger manufacturing.  We operate in a fast paced environment with frequent change overs.


This is a full-time position. We currently have openings on first shift (6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) and second shift (2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.)

Compensation

Pay Rate:  $17 - $19/hour, depending on experience
Full benefit package including vacation, medical, 401k, and tuition assistance

Specific Responsibilities

  • Operate metal working equipment to consistently and efficiently to produce quality parts 
  • Use blueprints and router information to set-up tooling and machines
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance tasks
  • As an active team member in the area, participate in continuous improvement activities to improve safety, quality, productivity and tooling life

Qualifications

  • Successful experience working with mechanical equipment
  • Proven mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use measuring devices (calipers, tape measures, etc.)
  • Ability to do addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in both fractions and decimals
  • Team player interested in improving the overall performance of the equipment and the team
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

Sales Application Engineer

Job Description

The Sales Application Engineer applies mechanical engineering skills and pressure vessel code knowledge (ASME, CE-PED, etc) to quote, design, and engineer finned-tube heat exchangers for use in nuclear power plants, high pressure and high temperature applications, and other related industrial end-uses. All products are custom made-to-order. We specialize in the thermal and fluid sciences as well as mechanical design. The heat exchangers we design and fabricate weigh from 1 to 20,000 pounds and operate in temperature conditions ranging from -340 to +1,400 F and pressure conditions from vacuum to 5,500 psi. All fabrication is performed on location so you can design your product and then see it being fabricated a few weeks later. The Sales Application Engineer works directly with our customer's engineering teams.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis, particularly heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and structural analysis
  • Serve as the single point of contact for existing customers by providing them with engineering analysis, designs, quotations, and ongoing service support
  • Develop prospective accounts, particularly nuclear power plants and other industrial customers, by understanding  the prospect’s engineering and code requirements, and proposing designs and service offerings
  • Own the design from concept through delivery: provide specifications to SolidWorks designers, advise manufacturing, and coordinate with materials requirements as necessary
  • Be an active participant in our team of sales application engineers that supports fluctuations in workload and contributes to each other’s professional development 
  • Travel expectations are 3-4 times per year, 1-3 days per trip

Production Manager (AZ)

Job Description

The Production Manager will have overall responsibility for all of production departments engaged in the fabrication and assembly of heat transfer coils on a two-shift basis.  

The Production Manager will be responsible for scheduling, on-time shipments and delivery, productivity, regulatory compliance, safety, and maintenance. The position will be responsible for manufacturing expenses and capital budget items. The Production Manager will be accountable for achieving / exceeding the agreed upon monthly shipment goal while managing the direct labor associated.

Position Reports to the Vice President of Operations

This is a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing and manage all personnel issues for hourly employees for entire Phoenix Operation including setting up new hires, discipline, attendance monitoring, vacation approval, etc.
  • Develop and implement a team-based approach in the production department to improve quality, increase yield, reduce waste and achieve results in line with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Implement manufacturing methodologies to facilitate continuous process improvement activities in all phases of the production operation. Gather and document key performance metrics to monitor and sustain process improvement effectiveness.
  • Schedule and maintain a profitable productivity metric (dollars/hour) with proper staffing.
  • Ensure all areas of responsibility operate within or below budgeted goals and cost objectives. Manage and minimize manufacturing costs of operations.
  • Direct the planning and scheduling activities and control the production of all manufactured items including print and BOM delivery to production.
  • Determine the monthly goal with VP of Operations for shipment based on capacity and other departmental constraints.
  • Investigate and recommend purchasing of capital equipment, changes in production design, facilities and methods.
  • Plan and administer overall programs to ensure good housekeeping and the proper maintenance of tools and equipment, the care of building and grounds, and the security of the physical facilities of the Company.
  • Ensure manufacturing controls are in place for compliance to all regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees; oversee all safety training.
  • Manage regulatory compliance programs including city, county, state, and federal EPA, OHSA, and Safety programs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience with at least a Bachelor’s degree or
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience working in a job shop manufacturing environment
